Global Warming: Fact or Fiction?

Comments

Well, I know a lot about both evolution and global warming and I believe in both. Maybe I'll make that one of my eight random items. :)
I say, try the whole "open mind" thing that many of the liberal folk are so fond of and check it out. I believe a healthy dose of skepticism is good for us all. After all, how can we be sure our position is right/accurate/well thought without considering the alternative? And yes, I have practiced what I've preached! ;) I'm always here to challenge & provoke!
Do I give the impression that I haven't opened my mind? Do I seem ignorant to you? Just because I didn't come to the same conclusions as you did doesn't mean I've been closed minded.

I believe God made creation logically, through evolution. And I believe we are now damaging that creation. I didn't arrive at these conclusions without a lot of thought.

"...your comment just made me feel like you didn't read my post at all."

Really? What I got from it was that you feel that people you know who argue to support global warming (and you also mentioned evolution) do so without knowing what they're talking about. Did I misunderstand the point of the post?

I don't mean to offend! I wasn't entirely sure how to respond to your comment. I really have no idea what you believe and what other options you've considered. Based on your comment, it didn't seem as though you really considered anything I posted, which is fine (and I realize this doesn't mean you haven't considered anything else in the past), but I'd love to facilitate some discussion on the actual issues. Perhaps you can enlighten me on some of your more convincing arguments on Global Warming (we can keep evolution out of this one because it's a whole new can of worms).
Sorry, I wanted to rephrase that one, see comment above!
What I've gathered from these articles and numerous sources is that scientists come up with actual refutes to the global warming theory and Al Gore and other supporters of it have nothing to say for it. Seems to me like a lack of science and information. I could reiterate hundreds of articles, but it's easier to go straight to the source.

So I took some time to look at your links, a couple of which I'd already seen. After doing so, it became obvious that I was about to engage in yet another debate that will take the same pointless path as the rest. I'll argue the same points I always do, you'll counter-argue the same points I've heard a gajillion times and we'll eventually agree to disagree. Bah.

"I'd love to facilitate some discussion on the actual issues."

Why? It's obvious you've made up your mind and I can assure you I've made up mine. And while Al Gore enjoys his Nobel Prize and Pat Robertson sits with his nemesis Al Sharpton for the express purpose of imploring us to think about Global Warming and other earth issues, I'm happy to continue doing what I can to make sure my grandchildren don't suffer from our neglect.

I applaud you for getting on your soapbox about something you feel passionate about. I'm just not the one you're going to convince.

I don't have the attitude that we can do whatever we want because it can't affect anything. You say that you want to make sure your grandchildren don't suffer. I don't want them to either. I believe that we should all be responsible citizens of this earth and take care of it.

I'm not disputing the fact that a global warming took place (past tense, because now we are staying about the same and even showing a cooling trend, which now Al Gore and his ilk are changing Global Warming to Climate Change... tricky!). I'm disputing the theory that it is mans fault via CO2 emissions, and there is definitely a very convincing argument to support that conclusion.

I am concerned about congress passing bills that require a premature switch to other fuels -- such as biofuels like ethanol which have a negative energy quotient -- as in, they require more energy than they produce (and yes, ethanol is created using petroleum). I am the first person in line to use an alternative method of fuel that is sustainable and renewable, but we can't step backwards. The problem with global warming created by human involvement is that it is motivated with fear of great catastrophes and whatnot which causes people to be reactionary and not consider everything.

I'm concerned about free speech and people losing jobs because they have dissenting opinions. I'm concerned about our children being told what to think instead of how to think. I'm concerned with our children being taught things as truth without any science behind it. I'm concerned that "An Inconvenient Truth" is being shown to children when it has 35 errors in it, at least 9 major ones. Fact: in the UK teachers are required to tell the children An Inconvenient Truth was propaganda when they show it in the classroom.

I don't have the power to change anyones mind, but that doesn't stop me from seeking the truth and reporting it as I see it. I don't expect everyone to agree with me, and honestly, my mind can be persuaded with a clear and logical argument... but I will be honest about it and non apologetic. If I am rude, I'm sorry, but you got it -- I am passionate!

Thanks for adding your input!

[this is good]
I think you are correct about this so called Global Warming - it is nice to be clean and conserve, but the whole thing is so bs.
